Our Teaching Methods

Safety, fast progress and fun learning are the cornerstones of our award-winning swim schools. With a supportive atmosphere and child-centered approach, we encourage children to have fun in the water while improving their water skills.

By utilizing a specialized muscle memory technique, along with our rollover breathing method, we are able to teach stroke technique at a very quick rate. By learning to roll over onto their backs to breathe, young children are empowered to be safer in the water and swim across the pool.

The 1:1 or 2:1 student-to-teacher ratio ensures that students receive a personalized lesson that is structured yet flexible to meet the needs of each individual, allowing students to steadily progress and thrive in a safe, comfortable environment.

Families also love our:

  • World-class aquatics facilities and professional swim instructors
  • Indoor and outdoor swimming pools that are heated all year round
  • Climate-controlled viewing areas with free Wi-Fi*
  • Showers and changing areas*
  • Snack bar and swim shop*
  • Strong focus on safety

*Available at our 6 aquatics centers, not at our LA Fitness and City Sports locations.

Benefits of Year-Round Swimming

For Best Results, Swim All Year

Just like any activity, swim students learn more, advance faster and become stronger swimmers with continual training. Waterworks Aquatics provides year-round opportunities for children and adults to be safer in the water, physically active and then become the best swimmers they can be.

There is a common misconception that swimming is only a summertime activity. The truth is that water emergencies can occur during any time of the year. Knowing how to survive and swim can be one of the most important skills to have. With shiver-free heated swimming pools, Waterworks Aquatics is an ideal location to learn and reinforce swimming skills all year round.

Here are some more reasons to continue swim lessons throughout the year:

  1. SAFETY FIRST!
As mentioned above, having swimming skills allows children and adults to be safe around water and reduces the fear that can sometimes be associated with being in water. Continuing lessons throughout the year creates even more safer and stronger swimmers that will likely know what to do in a water emergency.
  1. IT’S GREAT EXERCISE!
Swimming is a low impact, full body cardiovascular workout. In children and adults, it offers a range of benefits such as improved strength, flexibility and coordination.
  1. IT CAN MAKE US FEEL GREAT!
One of the most important lessons we can learn is that practice pays off. It takes dedication and practice to learn and perfect swimming skills. The added confidence is priceless.
  1. IT’S A GATEWAY TO WATER SPORTS!
As swimming skills and confidence grow, so will the opportunity to participate in water sports, such as swim competitions, competitive diving, water polo, surfing and more!

I don't usually write Yelp reviews but after our experience this summer I felt the need to post a review in hopes that more parents will take advantage of the swim program here. We enrolled in the semi-private lessons program here at the beginning of summer and if it was possible I would shout from the rooftops how pleased we have been with both the program and especially our children's instructor Wyatt. He is absolutely amazing and in my opinion a miracle worker. He is incredibly patient positive and encouraging with my boys. At the beginning of summer my 6 year old was barely swimming and wouldn't get in the water without a life vest and my 3 year old didn't even want to get in the water. It's been roughly 6 weeks of working with Wyatt twice a week now. My 6 year old can not only swim the entire length of the lap pool but is doing cannonballs into the deep end and hasn't worn his life vest except for when on our boat since his first lesson. My 3 year old will jump into the pool, push off the side and even swim a couple of feet underwater to me. My husband and I are both astonished and thrilled with Wyatt and how quickly he has turned our two boys into water loving swimmers. We still have 4 weeks of summer left and can't wait to see how much farther they progress before the summer is over. Thank you Waterworks for the amazing program you have developed and most importantly thank you to Wyatt for your commitment and dedication to our boys.

Started out our lil' one with a group session then moved him up to semi-private session. He loves it here and he loves his instructor, Hector. A few days before the weekly lesson he's asking, 'Go see Hector? Kick, kick, kick?' Hector is incredibly personable, GREAT with kids and takes his time with the lil dude - it really makes a difference to have an instructor who cares and is patient, and as parents, we really appreciate it. Kudos to Waterworks management, great hire with Hector. Front desk staff is also very helpful and friendly, they've been very accommodating for make-ups when the lil guy was sick and help in other schedule changes. Ample parking, facilities are clean and well maintained, multiple shower and changing rooms. What's not to love? Also love the events (like Valentine's Day Family Swim Night) - great facility.

I highly recommend Waterworks Aquatics. There staff is amazing from the front desk to the staff at the pool. You get to choose which type of instructor you want for your child. And even in my sons first time, the instructor asked another instructor to help him to assist my son on a stroke. This type of unity and above and beyond mission to give the best to my son gives this more than 5 stars if I could. I also love how the staff calls you to make sure you are getting what you want and that you are happy with service. My sons daily questions of 'is today swimming' also gives it 5 stars from the child's point of view. Thank you so much Arlene, Danielle, Alli and Nate for making this such a wonderful experience.

I have nothing negative to say about Waterworks! I subscribe to their philosophy of teaching kids to swim...I love that the classes are no more than 2 kids, I love the play pool that my girls can play in before or after their lessons, I love the family changing rooms available if my husband takes my girls to swim and they need to shower off with his help. I recommend reading the bios of the instructors and choosing based on what instructor will be a good fit for your child. Some instructors have a sweet kindergarten teacher approach and others have a little more drill sergeant in them. My 5 year old is advancing extremely quickly and my 9 year old is currently on the swim team until summer competitive season starts. We are thrilled that a quality swim school has opened in our area and have referred at least 6 other families to Waterworks {wish they had the referral program our old school in CA had...refer a friend, get one month free!} :)

Waterworks is perfect! Online scheduling is easy, and the teachers are wonderful. My daughter is nearly 4 and takes lessons with David & Ashley. They (and all of the teachers) take time after each lesson to give the parents a progress report, and they are so good with the kids. We switch between teachers simply because our schedule changes week-to-week, and they go the extra mile to fill each other in so that the lessons are consistent and build upon one another. It is as though she has just one teacher. Semi-private lessons are the way to go - much less expensive than private, and it's only 2 kids. I find it's good to have a classmate, regardless of whether my daughter is the more- or less-experienced one. It's more fun together, and there is something to learn from the other student, even if s/he is less-experienced. Also, at least half the time there is not a second student, so it's a private lesson for a much lower cost. They have a little pool the kids can play in for 15 minutes before or after the lesson. Samantha is one of the lifeguards, and she really cares to learn the kids' names and interact with them. I highly recommend Waterworks.

The improvement I saw in my children was at least twice as great as the improvement I had ever seen with any of the other instructors and swim schools we used in the past.

As our children have gotten older, we have been to numerous swim schools (3 in all), and Waterworks Aquatics is by far, the most SUPERIOR swim school we've attended. The facility is OUTSTANDING with its multiple pools to accommodate all ages (we should have started with them 5 years ago-I wouldn't have had to change schools) from infants to adults. The numerous shower stalls available to rinse off and change (privately) are an added bonus. The monthly swim meets are a lot of fun, and I am always amazed at how such young children can swim with so much skill, not to mention the older children who are equally impressive. But most important, the teachers are EXCELLENT (many of them still swim competitively) and the office staff is AWESOME-personable, warm, friendly and accommodating to our needs. My son insisted for so long that he cannot float on his back ('because he'll sink') but with gentle persuasion and positive reinforcement from the teachers AND the staff, not only is he floating, he's on top of the world! I started taking my kids to swim school years ago with the intent to 'just get them water-safe.' After a year and a half at Waterworks, I continue to go week after week because my kids simply LOVE IT and watching them...so do I.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Waterworks Aquatics and how happy of a customer we are. We have tried one other swim school and toured another as well before learning about Waterworks. Waterworks is far better for several reasons: the consistency and method of teaching, the quality of teaching, the warm water, the ease and options of scheduling, the large and clean facility, the patience of the teachers, the shower/changing rooms, and much more. Most importantly, you can tell each teacher is definitely handpicked and trained to teach kids to ease the fear they initially have about water. We have been taking lessons for a little over 2 years at Waterworks. My child is only 3 years old and is completely water safe in a pool!
